Nanny Available - Hello, I am relocating to Thomas County in June of this year. I am looking to work with a family large or small, who is seeking a full-time permeant live out nanny/caregiver in the Thomas County, North Tallahassee area. My name is Karen Smith I am 23 yrs old. I was born and raised in Greenock, Scotland. I have two older sisters, and an older brother. I moved to the United States when I was nine, and have lived in Virginia ever since. I am relocating to Thomasville in June of 2006. I have a one eyed cat name Pete, and would love to own a chocolate lab one day. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friend and family. I also enjoy making scrapbooks, traveling, bowling, hiking, and bike riding. I am a high school graduate with training in early childhood edu. I am first aid and CPR certified. I have cared for children from various backgrounds, including infants, premature infants, multiples, large familles, and children with special needs. I have experience, with apnea monitors, G-tubes, NG tubes, oxygen dependent children, as well as children who are nonverbal, non ambulatory, and hearing impaired. I have also worked with children who have been affected by cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and epilepsy. I believe that children learn best through play and hands on activities. I encourage children to learn by offering a variety of experiences both inside and outside of the home that help the grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually. When disciplining a child, I use positive reinforcement, redirection, loss of privileges, and "time outs" as a last resort.
